Haven’t been here for a while now. Just a quick update: I spent the last 2 months preparing for the licensure exam. I built a study routine and I’ve been studying every day ever since. It hasn’t been easy. I don’t even know what’s after this, but I’ll just try to go through it one day at a time.
I’ve been more active in my study account in instagram. It has been amazing and I’ve found a lot of support from people everywhere. Although, I have to admit that Tumblr still feels very special to me as it contains the rest of my journey from high school to med school. This is still my safe space, and I’m glad I still have this to voice out my thoughts freely.
How is everyone? I hope you are all doing okay 😊

hi ate! im an incoming med student and i was wondering if i should buy a laptop or a new ipad (mine is an oldish unit and isnt compatible with the pencil so i cant “write” notes on it huhuhu). What do you recommend? :))

Hello! Hmmm I’d say get an iPad if you have to choose. Mine was really useful and I only have to use my laptop when I have to type notes or when I’m working on a lot of things!
Super recommend to get the pencil also because you can still have the traditional “writing” notes style. It’s like having all your notebooks in one place and you don’t have to worry about buying a lot of pens and highlighters anymore 😂

I remember drawing all the branches of the abdominal aorta until its terminal branches back when I was a first year med student. Yet, I can’t seem to master them completely!

Hi, ate Bana! I hope that you are doing well this quarantine. Can I ask you some tips on how to be productive in this kind of situation? :)

To be honest it was really difficult but I’ve been trying to build my discipline for the past weeks. Here’s what I did:
1. First, I fixed my sleeping schedule. I realized I get a lot more things done during the day so I forced myself to wake up before 7:30AM everyday. I also STOP working once 11PM strikes so I can prepare for bed
2. Every Sunday, before the week starts, I already plan my week. I divide the topics I need to read and distribute them for the week.
3. I stick to the schedule I made. There are days when I don’t finish everything, but that’s okay. I try to catch up on them on lighter days.
4. Build a distraction-free study environement. Once I’m studying I really try to lessen distractions. I blocked social media sites in my laptop, and I use Forest app to keep me away from my phone.
5. I dedicate 1 hour of exercise everyday. It doesn’t only help me keep myself healthy, but it really helped me in terms of discipline.
6. Give yourself enough time for breaks. I take 15min breaks every hour of studying. Sometimes I take as long as 1-hour break when I’ve been really focused for a long time.
Hope this helps! It’s not perfect and it took a long while before I’ve really grown into my everyday routine :)

AWWW HAHA thank you so much for being with me throughout my journey! <3 GOODLUCK IN MED SCHOOL!!! Have fun!!!
bakit daw hindi matutuloy licensure exams? :( september pa siya right? is it because kulang na sa hours for internship? or possible no review schools will open due to the virus?

As of now, licensure exams are still scheduled ti be on September. The rest of our internship was converted to online learning, no more hospital work. It’s kinda sad, to be honest. But I guess it’s really for our safety since our hospital was converted to a Covid referral center :(
For now, I think most review schools will just give their lectures online… no final announcement yet but it’s likely given the situation :(
are you reviewing your past notes (notes from 1st-3rd year med) or are you making new ones right now? (referring to your latest biochem notes post!) sending hugs, bana! hope you get well soon! God bless sa exams!

The ones I posted were new ones! Though I honestly wish I made those notes back then to save time for my review now hahaha. Thank you so much!!! :)
